How to modify the plan of an existing floor?

This article explains how to replace the background of an existing floor in Deskare, without having to recreate the entire floor.

✅ Steps to follow

1. Prepare the new floor plan

Create a new version of your floor plan in PNG or JPEG format.

👉 Make sure the image dimensions are close to the original background to minimize manual adjustments.

2. Access the floor configuration

In the Admin space, go to the “Workplaces” tab > select your workplace > then access the zone of your choice.

3. Import the new floor background

Click on “Edit plan”, then use the button at the top left to upload the new image.

✅ Existing desks will be preserved.

4. Reposition existing desks

If elements on the plan have shifted:

  • Select and drag desks to reposition them.

  • Use keyboard shortcuts for precise placement (see below).

5. Add new desks

Click on “New resource”, then select “Desk”, and place it at the desired location on the plan.

6. Save your changes

Click “Save” to activate the new floor plan and make it visible to users.

⌨️ Useful keyboard shortcuts

  • Shift + Click: select multiple desks one by one

  • Shift + Mouse selection: select multiple desks or villages in one gesture

  • Ctrl + A (or Cmd + A on Mac): select all elements

  • Ctrl + D (or Cmd + D on Mac): duplicate selected elements while keeping their design and rules

  • Escape: deselect everything
